ABA for Africa Initiative

Dignity in Labor,
Power in Systems.

Transforming the Informal Sector from a Survival Hub to an Economic Engine across Africa.

Across Africa, the informal sector is the lifeblood of our cities, yet it remains the most underserved. Poverty in Africa is not a lack of resources — it is a lack of Institutional Infrastructure. Through ABA for Africa, we bridge the gap between grassroots labour and global economic standards.

By formalising the informal, we create security, scale, and sustainability — not charity, but stewardship. Not aid, but architecture.

Strategic Mandate

Three Pillars of Empowerment.

We focus on the "unseen" drivers of the African economy — the traders, artisans, and entrepreneurs who power our cities without the systems to protect them. Across Africa, the informal sector employs over 80% of workers. We are building the infrastructure to protect, formalise, and scale their contributions.

The Arbitrator's Call

"Disputes in the informal sector often go unresolved because of a lack of access to justice. We are building the mediation frameworks that bring order to the chaos. Join the movement to formalise Africa."

  • 01
    Identity & Documentation

Providing informal workers with the "Digital Passport" of identity — ensuring they exist in the eyes of the financial system. We are building partnerships with government bodies to issue formal documentation to over 2 million informal workers by 2027.

  • 02
    Financial Literacy as a Right

Deploying the frameworks from ABA's research at the University of Cambridge to teach wealth preservation and stewardship to artisans, traders, and small scale entrepreneurs. Financial education is not a luxury — it is infrastructure. We deliver it free of charge in all six geopolitical zones.

  • 03
    Regulatory Inclusion

Using expertise in Institutional Reform to advise governments on policies that protect informal workers rather than penalise them. We have engaged with ministries in 4 African countries to develop inclusive regulatory frameworks. Every regulation should be a ladder, not a wall.

The Impact

Beyond Charity. Beyond Aid.

🔐
Security

Access to insurance, legal protection, and formal contracts. We are building the safety nets that the informal sector has never had.

📈
Scale

The ability for a small trader to become a regional supplier. We connect micro enterprises to macro supply chains through formal institutional pathways.

🌱
Sustainability

Generational wealth for the families of the 7 children ABA mothers and the millions more she serves across Africa.
